Did you know by making a few simple changes we can help get our health back on track and maybe save a little money too? Regular exercise and healthy eating can have many benefits such as a weight loss, strengthening your bones and muscles and improving your overall mood. Healthy habits can help you save a little money too such as a veggie patch providing cheap food or walking the kids to school saving you petrol.

Don’t know where to start? With the following tips you can kick start a healthier you in 2017!

1. Walk more, drive less

It’s easy to just hop in the car when we need to pop down to the shops or visit a friend. Choosing to walk when we can improves our health. This has the added benefit of saving on fuel and wear and tear on your car. It’s a no brainer!

2. Get the kids involved

There are loads of cheap or even free activities that are available for both kids and adults to enjoy. It can often be a handful to keep the children busy on weekend and in holidays. Here are a few active suggestions:
  • Take the kids bushwalking – throughout Australia there’s a lot of great tracks which don’t cost a cent to participate.
  • Backyard sports – a healthy Australian past time. Get the kids outside playing cricket or soccer and off the PlayStation.

3. Plant a veggie patch

Getting out in the backyard and planting a veggie patch is a great way to save money- also keeps you moving! With many vegetables being so easy to grow and so expensive at the supermarkets to buy, it makes a whole lot of sense to grow your own. Search the internet for some veggie patch tips and tricks.

4. Drink more H2O

We all know how important water is to us with it making up two-thirds of our body and all. Despite this, many people still don’t drink enough water. Boosting your water intake is a simple way to live healthier and stay hydrated.

5. Get enough shut eye

Sleep is important for your concentration and emotional levels. No one likes a cranky person! Make sure you do what you can to get a good 8 hours of sleep each night. The most important thing to remember is that it takes a while for routines to form and it is easy to slip back into bad habits. Make sure you stick at it!
